Super Wide Nikon Zoom

With the move from the cropped D2X body to the D3 Series, the 12-24 DX was useless on the FX bodies, and the 18-35 was good but not blowing my socks off. So have traded those in for a fantastic 17-35 AF-S F2.8 ED IF. This will now standardise all my zooms and the 77mm filter platform.
Had a quick go with the new 14-24 AF-S. Probably one of nikons best lenses to date, however there was a problem.. The issue here is that the lenshood is built in, and i use filters for 90% of my work, and the Cokin Filter adapter specifically made for this lens costs approx. $625 U.S, which makes this lens a $2800+ option. No Doubt that the 17-35 will deliver stellar results on the D3.
